Epigraphs (São Jorge Castle)

Diverse epigraphic inscriptions - mostly funerary and some votive - discovered in 1940, during restoration of São Jorge Castle (pieces were removed from their original context, reused in the walls of the castle and demolished houses). In 1990s and following decade, archaeological interventions on the same site discovered other Roman epigraphs (also out of context), mostly funerary and one votive. Part of the epigraphic inscriptions are included in the exhibits in the Museum of Lisbon - Pimenta Palace and the Museological Nucleus of São Jorge Castle.
